Payment Options for Assisted Living
Private Pay
You would be responsible for the payment on a monthly basis billed directly
to you.
Assisted Living for the Elderly Waiver Program
This program provides financial assistance to individuals over the age of 60
and in need of personal care, supervision of medications and housekeeping
services. This then allows the senior to “age in place” and eliminate or
delay the need for a nursing home. The senior is responsible for paying for
a portion of the cost of the ALF as determined by the program and funding is
limited which often creates a waiting list.. You must reside in an ALF that
participates in the waiver program. To be eligible, the senior must be over
60, determined disabled according to social security standards or over 65.
You must meet the criteria for nursing home care as determined by the
Department of Elder Affairs, CARES unit; and meet Medicaid income and asset
limits.
Assistive Care Services
This programs provides financial assistance to individuals over the age of
18 and in need of care that meets the criteria for admission to an assisted
living facility. You must obtain a health assessment by a physician that
indicates the need for assistance for activities of daily living and reside
in an ALF that participates in this program. You are responsible for paying
a portion of the cost of the ALF as determined by the program. You must meet
Medicaid income and asset limits.
Veterans Aide and Attendance
This program provides financial assistance for our honorable discharged
wartime veterans or spouse of a wartime veteran with non-service connected
disabilities that now requires assisted living. The veteran must have served
at least one day during war time up to and including the Vietnam War. Income
must be less than $807/month if single or $1057/month if married.
